Day 14 – Cudillero to Peninsula de San Juan

Our first day within Asturias at the Costa Verde (green coast). Green cost, because of the rich vegetation caused by a high number of raining days.
Costa Verde welcomes us with a fine drizzle in the morning. Nevertheless we went to the center of Cudillero, which is one of the touristic hot spots at the Asturien coast.

Cudillero
Cudillero has no normal roads, only small alleys and stairways.
Fish basin of a restaurant with a boat in a window to the street.
There are also some tiny hotels.
Locals amongst themselves …
… and the tourists.

Sunday is also a good day to do some maintenance.
We needed to do some laundry and found a self-service laundry in Avilés, only half an hour to drive.

While the washing machine was working, I had some time to explore proximity. Sundays the Spanish are leaving the cities to go to the beach or other places for recreation. Even the bars are closed. Avilés looks a little bit like an abandoned city.

La Fruteria – the fruit shop.
Empty street in Avilés.

Close to Peninsula de San Juan we found a place for the night at the beach. The Waikiki bar is straight behind the dune.

Surfers in the evening.

Day 13 – Espasante to Cudillero

Today we left Galicia and entered Asturias.
In the Middle Ages it was part of the larger Kingdom of Asturias.

Boat to sell.

And again we stopped at at the Oxigeno Bar of Alfredo.

Cudilleiro is a small fishermen’s village and one of the two harbors is bigger than the village itself. The biggest building is the harbor wall. It looks like somebody has played „Minecraft“ in reality. Every block measures 2 by 2 by 2 meters.

It looks like bricks playground of a giant.

Day 12 – Cedeira to Espasante

For the night we stayed at the harbor of Cedeira nearby the maritim museum and between old ships. I am wondering, that people drive to sea with such kind of ships. Only a small cabin where most space is used for the engine.

After 28 kilometers we found a place for lunch with option for swimming and surfing. This location is on a peninsula with no bigger village at the bay of Enseada de Espasante.

Later we drove to Espasante on the other side of the bay. You can see the location on the other side of the bay, but it is 30 kilometer to drive around.

Café Concerto …
… with live music.
An abandoned house at the beach.
Sitting at the sea front having some drinks.

For the night we stay in the harbor, of Espasante nearby the fishing boats.

Harbour of Espasante

Our neighbor for tonight is an old lady with her 40 year old Mercedes Benz camper van. Traveling with a camper van is some kind of passion.

Like almost every evening the sun says „good by“ with a glorious exit from the stage.

For dinner we went to the local bar „A Trapela“ in the harbor, eating fresh fish and drinking some beer. ;-).

Cheers!
